A RESOLUTION COMMENDING REPRESENTATIVE GENE SAUCIER FOR HIS OUTSTANDING SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF THE MISSISSIPPI HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

WHEREAS, Representative Gene Saucier of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, was born September 25, 1931, in Dallas, Texas, and represents the people of Lamar and Forest Counties in House District 101; and

WHEREAS, Representative Saucier loyally served this country as a pilot in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1956, achieving the rank of First Lieutenant; and

WHEREAS, Representative Saucier received a bachelor's degree in agronomy soils from Mississippi State University and earned a master's degree in college counseling and a doctorate degree in adult education from the University of Southern Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, having served six (6) years in the Legislature, Representative Saucier is currently a member of the Agriculture, Conservation and Water Resources, Game and Fish, Judiciary "B" and Enrolled Bills Committees; and

WHEREAS, Representative Saucier and his wife, Giulia, own a 160-acre property in north Forrest County which has been a Certified Tree Farm since 1959 and under a written forest management plan since 1975; and

WHEREAS, in October 1996, the Sauciers received the state's Outstanding Tree Farmers of the Year Award at the annual meeting of the Tree Farmers Association; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend outstanding service and dedication to the State of Mississippi and its people:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and express appreciation to Representative Gene Saucier for his dedicated service as a member of the House of Representatives and extend our best wishes for success in all his future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Representative Gene Saucier and to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
